The University of Bradford Midwifery Society involvement:

The UoB Midwifery Society was thrilled and extremely proud to attend the Royal College of Midwives annual awards ceremony, as nominees for the Student Midwife of the Year award. The award recognises students who have made an exceptional contribution to the student community, and as a newly formed society, this was a great honour for us. When we formed in September 2014, our goal was to support and unite midwifery students and professionals, and create a learning hub with brave discussion and ideas. At the centre of this, and part of our award recognition, was our desire to bring this back to Bradford; to provide high quality key learning opportunities to local students, and make events inclusive for all. The award also recognised our commitment to supporting each other, and we plan to celebrate our success with a lunch embracing all cohorts. The judging panel felt that all the entries were so strong, that the award was split equally and we received a cheque to enable us to continue the work of the society. We are so grateful to the RCM for their recognition, and for the support shown by the Midwifery Division in the Faculty of Health in attending the awards. Being a part of the ceremony and surrounded by so many inspiring individuals and teams, who have made such a significant difference to the care of women, babies and their families, was a truly special moment for us all, and a part of our UoB journey that we will always treasure

(Royal college of Midwives, 2014).
